John Passmore Edwards

Famouth Hospital

1893 - 1930

The building is of Bridgewater brick up to the stringcourse at level of sills; above this the walls are rough cast with brick dressings. The roofs are slated. Internally, the ward floors are of polished oak; the corridor, etc has a floor of wood blocks. The upper floor of the central portion accommodates the staff.
This building, which is situated on one of the highest points in Falmouth embracing a view of the sea, is the gift of Mr. J. Passmore Edwards, who has also furnished it, and has spared no expense that would promote efficiency and economy in its future maintenance. The panels over the bay windows are modelled by Mr. C. Frampton, A.R.A. Mr. Trehane (builder), of Liskeard, completed the work from plans by Mr. H. C. Rogers, 7, Carteret-street, Westminster. Extract from Building News, 13 April 1894.
